Chigwell & Hainault United Synagogue - Senior Rabbinic couple sought for an outstanding opportunity - Attractive Salary – incl. Accommodation
Jobs Closing Date:
Thursday 16th December 2021

Chigwell and Hainault United Synagogue is seeking an outstanding senior rabbinic couple to lead our community once our current incumbents retire following 25 years of dedicated service to our community. The successful candidates will build on and develop our range of programmes and services and continue to nurture the caring, family atmosphere that has always characterised our community.

Chigwell & Hainault United Synagogue is a large, growing, and vibrant community, with a diverse membership spanning the full range of ages and religious observance. We have close to 900 families and 1500 members plus many children.

We are undergoing a major redevelopment project and the successful candidates will benefit from the upgraded premises, which will allow them to run a range of educational programmes and services for different interest and age groups.

You will inspire, enthuse, and motivate people; however, they connect with and contribute to the community. You will have engaging, welcoming personalities and be good listeners, learning from and embracing the diverse nature of the community, while promoting Jewish practices and education and preserving the Modern Orthodox ethos of the United Synagogue and a love of Israel.

You will be sensitive to and care for members in crisis. You will enjoy welcoming guests into your home and be ready to reach out to all ages. You will be dynamic, self-motivated, energetic, well-organised and hard -working team players. Being a team player is especially important, working closely with the Honorary Officers and Shul Council as well as our Assistant Rabbinic couple.

Whatever a person’s background or level of observance, it is important that everyone feels welcome and comfortable at Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue. We are proud of the fact that we hold Shul services twice daily, seven days a week and it is important that the Rabbi ensures the continuation of these services.

There is close cooperation between all the local orthodox shuls in NE London – United Synagogue, Federation, Chabad and Aish - with regular meetings of the Rabbanim. We are also strong supporters of our local United Synagogue Schools – Kantor King Solomon High School and Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary School - with the Rabbanim serving as governors for the schools. We are very keen for the new Rabbi to continue this.

The successful Rabbi will have a Semicha acceptable to the Chief Rabbi and extensive appropriate experience.
