For Youth and Young Families - 2 years fixed term

They say that ‘the children are our future’!

For the Woodside Park Jewish Community, this is literally the case, with the proportion of our growing community made up of Children, Youth and Young Families rising year on year. Today it is 51% and still going!

Set in the leafy suburbs of Jewish North London, within our own Eruv, close to Jewish schools, restaurants, bakeries and kosher shops, Woodside Park is a popular community for young Jewish families to settle. As the Youth and Young Families of our community continue to grow in number, the range of activities on offer to them continues to grow too. Today there is a vibrant mix of Shabbat services, educational programmes, youth clubs, social events, young families’ activities, a parent and toddler group, a day nursery, a cheder and much much more - all supported by an army of youth leaders, parent volunteers and our dedicated Youth Directors.

Looking to the future the community is now keen to make a long term appointment of a Rabbinic Couple (or Educators) to take these aspects of communal life to the next level; increasing the professionalism with which activities are delivered, deepening the communal, cultural and religious commitment of Children, Youth & Young Families who already participate and reaching out to a wider group of those on the periphery of the community.

The ideal couple will have bags of enthusiasm for Jewish life and a passion for sharing this with Children, Youth and their families. They will be able to relate to and inspire both boys and girls from the very young to teenagers and young professionals. They will be equally comfortable working with families of a range of levels of religious observance and commitment.

To reach out beyond the committed core of the community, the couple will be willing and able to develop attractive and engaging programmes / events and promote them through a range of marketing tools including social media. At a personal level they will be at ease interacting the with Children and Youth and happy to host groups of Children and families for regular Friday Night meals and other hospitality, to foster strong personal relationships over time.

This is an ideal role for a couple seeking their first communal appointment and in return for your commitment to deliver all of this in a 45 hour working week (shared between two), you will be offered a competitive salary, furnished accommodation within easy walking distance of the Community Campus, together with additional training and support from the United Synagogue and mentoring from our Senior Rabbi and Rebbetzen.

To find out more about these exciting new roles please contact Gidon Ohana at youthappointment@woodsidepark.org.uk for an informal conversation.
